Most Master's programs in marketing in Germany sound similar: international, modern, practice-oriented.
The IMS Master differs in five concrete and verifiable ways.
1. Integrated Marketing and Sales
At IMS, Marketing and Sales are taught as two equally weighted program pillars. Both have their own dedicated modules, taught by specialised faculty and reinforced through joint live cases. Other Master's programs offer Sales as an elective topic within a marketing curriculum, whereas IMS treats it as a core specialisation. Every course title and credit allocation is publicly documented in the official IMS curriculum and module handbook.
2. EFMD-Accredited Program
The IMS Master holds the EFMD Accredited Programme seal (formerly EFMD-EPAS) — an international quality accreditation from the European Foundation for Management Development. Unlike institutional accreditations such as AACSB, EFMD evaluates a specific program rather than an entire faculty. IMS received this seal as one of only a small number of German Master's programs in marketing. For you, this means independent international verification of the program's curriculum, teaching quality, and relevance to employers — recognised by partner universities and companies worldwide.
3. Mandatory Semester Abroad
Studying abroad is a mandatory part of the IMS curriculum. Every student spends one semester at one of our international partner universities — often graduating with a Double Degree from both Münster and the partner institution such as at the EM Normandie Business School (Caen, Le Havre, Paris, Oxford, Dublin, Dubai and Boston) or Universidad Satiago de Chile. International experience is structured into the program from day one, not added on top.
4. Real Cases, Real Companies
Throughout the program, students work on actual marketing and sales projects in cooperation with companies — not on textbook case studies. Past corporate partners include Ernsting's family, Rhenus, Changelab and others. This means you graduate with project experience you can show in your portfolio, not just exam results.
5. Small Cohort
The IMS Master is intentionally kept small with approximately 25-35 students per cohort. This means individual feedback on every project, direct exchange with professors and industry guests, and a tight peer community that often turns into a lasting professional network. Master's education at IMS is conversational — not anonymous.
These five pillars are what the IMS Master's program stands for and makes it special.
